Labour’s Cheryl Pidgeon was declared the new County Councillor for Sawley and Wilsthorpe after the polls closed on 7th July.
Cheryl received 1,351 votes; beating Conservative Leader of Erewash Borough Council, Chris Corbett, by 154 votes.
Cheryl thanked the people of Sawley and Wilsthorpe for their support and promised to work hard to keep Sawley safe.
The Labour Party in Derbyshire is now one seat nearer to taking back control of the council.
